9 New AI Tools in Adobe Creative Cloud to Save You Time and Energy

Discover the latest and greatest AI tools unveiled at the 2023 Adobe MAX conference.

Adobe Inc. is arguably one of the heaviest hitters in the creative media software industry. They’re responsible for editing tools like Photoshop, Premier Pro, Illustrator and more. Sound familiar? All are part of the Adobe Creative Cloud, which has become a mainstay for content creators across the globe.

Each autumn, Adobe holds its MAX Conference, where the latest and greatest features coming to the Creative Cloud are unveiled. In 2023, artificial intelligence (AI) took center stage when Adobe announced over 100 new AI-driven features integrated into its product line.

While the ethical concerns of AI are up for debate, it’s undeniable that many of these tools can be incredibly powerful timesavers and open the door for new creative possibilities. Here are a few new AI features in Adobe’s most popular products that can help you streamline your workflow and bring your creative vision to life.

Photoshop

Generative fill

Want to add a new element to your image? Maybe a little critter for your forest landscape? No problem. Use any selection tool to select an object or area in your image. Write a prompt describing the object or scene you want to generate in the text-entry prompt box and then select Generate. Done. The only limit is your imagination. Pro tip: be as descriptive as possible in your text prompt for more precise results.

Need to remove a distracting object? Repeat the same process but leave the text prompt blank, and Photoshop will fill in the selection based on the surroundings. This can be especially helpful when the Healing Brush tool isn’t doing the trick.

Each attempt will create three new options to select from. If the first try doesn’t meet your liking. Give it another go. Sometimes it takes more than one. Here’s a step-by-step on how to get started.

Generative Expand

Occasionally, the dimensions of your image may not suit your needs. Whether you need extra space for text or want to convert a landscape into a portrait for social media, this feature is super helpful. Simply utilize the Crop tool and Generative Expand to click and drag beyond the image borders to achieve the desired size, and AI will fill in the edges to match.

Premier Pro

Enhance Speech

Nothing is more frustrating than background noise muddying your audio, like the hum of an air conditioner or cars driving by as you conduct an interview. Now you can remove distracting background noise and improve the quality of your dialogue with AI-powered Enhance Speech. This one works well. Like, really well.

Speech-to-Text and Text-Based Editing

Once considered a costly and time-intensive process, creating captions and transcripts has been simplified. With a click, Speech-to-Text produces precise transcripts in more than 18 languages. It distinguishes between speakers, ensuring accurate representation, and generates captions that align seamlessly with the cadence and speech patterns present in the video.

But wait, there’s more. Text-Based Editing reimagines the process of refining lengthy interviews for precise voiceover selection. Highlight text to add clips to your timeline. Then, refine, reorder, and trim clips with the same ease as editing a text document. Go further by eliminating awkward pauses through bulk deletion and employ filler-word detection to remove unwanted words for a polished result.

Remix

Tired of trying to fit your footage to the exact length of your music track? The Remix tool analyzes your music and extends or shortens it, maintaining seamless transitions without missing a beat, all while preserving the impact of the soundtrack.

Illustrator

Generative recolor

Enter a text prompt and instantly receive ready-to-use color variations for your designs, eliminating the need to create palettes manually. For instance, by inputting phrases like “neon 80s vibe” or “mellow pastel,” you’ll receive personalized themes that serve as a helpful starting point for your project.

Text-to-vector graphic

With a text prompt, provide a brief description of the subject, scene, icon, or pattern you have in mind, and generate multiple vector variations in one click. The generated vector graphics are arranged in logical groups, allowing you to do further edits easily.

Retype

Found a font you like in a raster image but don’t know what it is? Retype enables creators to encounter a font anywhere, capture a photo, import it into Illustrator, and then identify the font without needing a laborious manual matching process.
