Meet #CSUSocial’s Newest Team Member

Hi, my name is Savannah Waggoner.

I grew up in Loveland, CO, Fort Collin’s neighboring town. I played basketball from second grade until sophomore year of high school when I tore my ACL. A week before my clearance date, I tore the same ACL and was out for senior year.

Tearing my ACL was a blessing in disguise. I realized it was possible to be involved with sports, just in a different capacity. I enrolled at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Sport Management Program and minored in communications. I was set on being a media relations manager for the NBA.

I started working in the University Communications and Media Relations Office during my junior year. Working in communications helped me realize the impact higher education makes in a community. I decided to change my career path and follow my new passion for making people’s lives better through education. I managed the UCCS institutional social media accounts, contributed to the university’s online news site, assisted with crisis communications, and developed photo, video and graphic design content during my time there.

Ever since Jason Smith was playing in Moby Arena for the CSU Rams, I wanted to be part of the #Ramily. So when the position to work for #CSUSocial opened, I was ecstatic. Plus, my younger sister is a senior studying animal science and my older brother is a CSU alumnus.

My Role

I manage the social and digital media for the College of Agricultural Sciences. The college has some pretty amazing students, research and faculty and I’m so excited to let the world know it.

Things You Need To Know About Me

My favorite platform is Instagram. I love how different everyone’s feeds are. Some of my favorite accounts are @leannebarlow (she makes the most amazing dresses and her family is the cutest), @theblondeabroad (she goes on the best trips) and of course, @coloradostateuniversity (Go Rams!).

The first time I saw the ocean was after my freshman year of college and now I’m obsessed. Anytime I’m on vacation, it’s somewhere tropical.

I have two cats (Thad & Oliver) and an Australian Shepard (@gracieaussie). They love to go on hikes and my phone is basically just photos of them.

Ginger and Baker and Bindle Coffee are some of my favorite spots around Fort Collins and of course, Horsetooth Reservoir.
