How We Handled #SigningDay

National Signing Day has become an increasingly publicized event for college athletic departments, especially for football programs. As social has become an important piece of the signing day excitement, we decided to attack the day from every angle we were able to devote resources to. Starting about three weeks out collaboration with the football office, our graphic designer, and video dept. was critical to promote Coach Bobo’s first class at Colorado State. Here’s a look at content we created and published leading up to, and throughout the day.

First, we wanted to give fans an idea of how much ground our coaches covered across the country leading up to signing day, we had our graphic designer create this map of all the coaches travel up to that point.

Once signing day started, we wanted to make every recruit feel special and let them and the fans know how excited we were to have them coming to Colorado State next year. Each recruit had a graphic created that we put out on social once their NLI was approved.

Instant reaction videos have been huge for us, capturing immediate emotions and really see what happens behind the scenes. This video was big for us, and a lot of fun to share, giving fans some insight into the early relationship between Coach Bobo and the first signee.

Lastly, we sent out graphics to our signees once their national letter of intent was approved by our compliance office.  Signees now had original content they could push out on their social channels. These went well on Twitter and gave us an opportunity to retweet and have that “user generated” content, even though we might have helped a little.

Here are two very prominent blogs in the social and athletics spheres that featured our work. This type of exposure is huge and really helps push the Colorado State brand into circles that might not have seen it before.
