Meet President Parsons’ Two Newest Social Media Interns

Get to know CSU students, Izzy Lewis and Kate Urban!

I can’t believe it’s already November by the time I’m making this post – but also I can. This semester has been jam-packed every day, 7 days a week since the start of August…and President Parsons’ two newest social media interns, Kate and Izzy, have been in the thick of it alongside us since then. But now it’s time for some introductions because these two powerhouse students deserve some well-earned recognition for jumping in feet first into the deep end! As always, we asked them a few questions for you to get to know them if you catch them hanging out with President Parsons out on campus! – Teddi

Where are you from?

Kate: Bay Area, California

Izzy: I am originally from Nashville, Tennessee; however, I have spent most of my life growing up in the northeast Denver region and lived in towns such as Thornton, Broomfield and the Erie area!

What’s your major and graduation year?

Kate: Communications major with a Media Studies minor, Class of 2027

Izzy: I’m a fourth-year student set to graduate in the spring of 2026! I am a Business Administration major concentrating in Marketing and International Business while working towards a Business-to-Business Selling certificate.

Why did you choose to come to CSU, and what’s been your best memory so far?

Kate: I chose to come to CSU because of the welcoming environment, beautiful campus and changing seasons in Colorado. My best memory so far was going to the football game against CU Boulder with my sister and dad, my freshman year.

Izzy: I knew CSU was the university for me the moment I toured the campus. My mom attended CSU, and seeing how this university shaped her career easily convinced me to become a second-generation Ram. My best memory has been joining my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. I never intended to join a sorority, but the experience has been better than I imagined. It’s given me lifelong friends, networking opportunities and countless memories that have benefited my college experience.

What’s your goal after graduation?

Kate: Start working at a job in social media, advertising or public relations.

Izzy: After graduation, I aim to build a successful career in the business industry. Whether pursuing a profession in marketing, sales or international business, I am eager to learn more about the job opportunities ahead of me in my senior year!

Why did you pursue a social media internship?

Kate: I pursued a social media internship because I enjoy being a part of popular culture and learning how it connects and influences people. As a CSU student, I wanted to gain hands-on experience applying what I’ve learned to real-world communication.

Izzy: I wanted to pursue a social media internship to gain further hands-on experience in this field. This internship felt like an excellent opportunity to gain more knowledge in social media marketing while learning and developing new skills in addition to social media!

What’s your favorite social media platform and why?

Kate: My favorite social media platform is TikTok because it’s such a creative space where people can share all kinds of ideas in fun and engaging ways. I love how it combines entertainment with trends, storytelling and widespread connection.

Izzy: My favorite social media platform is Instagram. I love using Instagram as a digital diary for myself and those around me! It is a great platform to express yourself and keep up with others!

What’s something interesting most people don’t know about you?

Kate: Something interesting about me that most people don’t know is that I have been playing guitar for eleven years!

Izzy: One interesting fact about me that most people don’t know is that I got to travel abroad in Florence and during my time, I was lucky enough to travel to over seven countries! It was truly an experience that altered my perspective on life and made me beyond fortunate to be a student here at CSU!
